Aspiring Medical Centre is the only approved provider of immigration eMedicals for immigration New Zealand in Wanaka.
eMedical is the electronic processing system that is used by our clinic to record the results of your medical examination and send them to Immigration New Zealand.
To make an appointment for an immigration medical, please complete the booking form online. One of our friendly team will contact you within two working days, with confirmation of an appointment.
Due to the high demand for appointments, a deposit of $100 is required to confirm your booking. Please contact our reception team to organise payment of your deposit.
Please telephone reception if you cannot attend your appointment. 48 hours’ notice is required, should you wish to cancel your appointment. No refund will be provided if you cancel your appointment within 48 hours.
You must bring your original passport (not a photocopy), and also passports for any children or dependents who are having a medical completed, to your appointment. Please feel free to bring a friend or interpreter along if you think this will make the consultation easier. If you do not bring your original passport to your appointment, we will be unable to complete your medical and your deposit will not be refunded.
What to expect
First you will see the nurse, who will take your photo, take blood tests and record measurements. This takes 30–45 minutes. During this process you will be asked to give a urine specimen, so please have a big drink of water before you come to your appointment. Women cannot be menstruating (having your period) at the time of consultation, so please time your appointment appropriately. There is no need to fast before your appointment, please eat as normal.
You will then be examined by a doctor, which takes 15–30 minutes.
There may be some waiting time, so allow an hour and a half for your visit.
The cost of a standard eMedical is $410 for an adult. This includes a set of standard blood tests. The cost for a child is $222 (no blood tests required). Depending on the outcome of your initial examination, you may be asked to undertake further tests or be referred to a specialist. In this case, there will be additional costs.
Once we get the results of your blood tests back from the laboratory (this may take a few days) we will complete the eMedical and send it electronically to Immigration New Zealand. You do not need to come back to the clinic to get your results. Immigration New Zealand will contact you regarding the status of your application using the preferred method you have selected during your appointment – usually email or phone. We will not contact you unless we need you to come back for further tests or examinations.
We can only complete the medical examination component of your medical. If you need a chest x-ray this can be done at Pacific Radiology, which is located next to us in the Wanaka Lakes Health Centre. There is a separate charge for this service, which is paid to Pacific Radiology.
