The winter season is slowly starting to take shape and for the keen skiers/snowboarders amongst our patients, I am sure you are eagerly looking forward to the start of the season.
At Aspiring Medical Centre, we are also gearing up for the winter season and have made more acute on the day appointments available throughout the day with our Nurse Practitioners, Nicky and Rebecca. As the practice gets busier through the winter season, we thought it timely to remind patients that appointments are always held in reserve for those needing urgent on-the-day appointments with our doctors. If you require an urgent appointment, please call our friendly Reception team to book an appointment through our GP Call Back service.
A reminder that our clinic is open 8:30am to 6pm Monday to Friday and provides shared duty practice days, shared ski clinics and shared After Hours service. We can be contacted 24 hours per day by phoning 03 443 0725. Remember, in an emergency always dial 111.
Aspiring Medical Centre Staff
In April we welcomed our new Operations Manager Vivienne Petrie to the practice. Viv has made the move to Wanaka from Christchurch not only to join Aspiring Medical Centre team but to be with her partner. In her words, she is thoroughly enjoying her new role and coming to grips with how a medical practice works.
We have also welcomed new staff:
Megan Paterson joining our Reception Team.
Fiona Gale, Jo Hunger and Kim Sydney joining our Primary Care Assistants Team.
Sam Franklin joining our Nursing Team.
In late July we will farewell Dr Katie Wright our GP Registrar and will await Dr Josie O’Grady who will join the team for her next block of training on her way to becoming a GP.
ConnectMed gives you the freedom to make appointments, securely request repeat prescriptions, view your medical record, view your test results, and communicate, in brief, with your doctor via secure messaging, all in the comfort of your own home! You can also book blood tests through ConnectMed. If you have not yet signed up for ConnectMed, or have any queries, please speak with one of our team.
Continuity of Care
We would like to remind patients of the importance of continuity of care. If you don’t have a nominated preferred GP, please discuss with one of our team. Evidence shows that having a GP that knows your history and that you have built a therapeutic relationship with improves patient experience and outcomes.
From the 5 July our consultation fees for registered patients are increasing in line with increased costs of running the Medical Centre. The new fees for a standard 15-minute consultation effective 5 July 2021:
Please check with Reception if you would like to clarify the charge.
