Nicky Anderson

I am a nurse practitioner. Many people do not know what a nurse practitioner is. Simply put, I am an expert nurse.  I have advanced knowledge, experience and skills, in addition to being a registered nurse. In order to qualify as a nurse practitioner, I had to complete a Master’s Degree in Nursing. I am regularly assessed by Nursing Council to ensure I care appropriately for my patients safely.

In practical terms this means, like the doctors, I can order tests, diagnose and treat most health issues. I can also refer to specialists if needed. I am not a doctor however, and I cannot diagnose/manage everything. For example, if you have a problem that has been going on for months, or a long-term condition like diabetes, multiple sclerosis or palliative care, then best that you book in to see one of our doctors. If you have a minor illness or something you think is simple, repeat prescriptions, infections or respiratory problems, come and see me.

I fell in love with Central Otago while on a ski holiday when I was 14 years old and I have wanted to live and work near the mountains ever since. I moved to Cromwell in mid-2017, commuting to Auckland to work. I Joined Aspiring Medical Centre in 2019, allowing me to fully enjoy this amazing region and spend more time with my family skiing, boating, hiking, running and exploring our spectacular paradise!
