I was born in Singapore and moved to the UK to study medicine, graduating from Glasgow University, Scotland, in 2006. I worked in Scotland for a further 2 years before moving to New Zealand which is where I call home since 2008.
After pursuing a career in General Surgery for 4 years, I was drawn to General Practice when I was doing my masters in 2014. I’m passionate about primary prevention and the benefits that it has to patients both physically and financially.
I enjoy all aspects of General Practice but have the following special interests
- Women’s health and Sexual Health- I am trained in the insertion and removal of IUCDs and the Jadelle contraceptive implant. I am also trained in doing pipelle biopsies
- Otolaryngology (ear nose and throat, ENT)- I am trained to see patients with a variety of ENT problems such as acute and recurrent otitis media, otitis externa, recurrent tonsillitis as well as paediatric and adult obstructive sleep apnoea
- Dermatology and skin cancer diagnosis- I have completed a certificate in dermoscopy and am working towards being an accredited skin cancer doctor.
- Minor surgery- I specialise in minor skin surgery including skin excisions and biopsies including local flaps and skin grafts.
I am thrilled to have moved to Wanaka and to be part of the Aspiring Team. Outside work, my husband and I enjoy rock climbing, road and mountain biking, mountaineering as well as chasing around our 3-year-old.
